In addition to the list contained in the BBEdit user manual, we offer the following set of HTML references and other web-authoring resources. This list is by no means complete, but is rather intended to emphasize those sources that either we ourselves, or BBEdit customers, have found useful.

Note: Mention on this page does not constitute an endorsement by Bare Bones Software, nor does it imply that we have reviewed the listed references for accuracy or suitability for your needs.

On-Line References

The BBSW Web Authoring list.
Bare Bones Software maintains this public mailing list. It is intended for general discussion of Web authoring and site development issues, with a focus on the use of Macintosh authoring tools including but not limited to BBEdit. Topics might include HTML / XML standards and usage, browser compatibility and display issues, maintenance of pages & sites in a collaborative work environment, etc.

Apple Developer Connection - Internet & Web info
All sorts of useful info about developing and delivering web content, naturally with a focus on using Mac OS X's rich set of web technologies but worth a look regardless of what server platform you're on.

Kevin Werbach's Bare Bones Guide to HTML
A very useful quick reference to HTML. (The naming of the Guide is coincidence; it is not a product of Bare Bones Software, and Mr. Werbach has no affiliation with us.)

HTML Help from the Web Design Group
While not as definitive as the W3C site (naturally), this site provides one of the most readable overviews to HTML 3.2, HTML 4.0 and Cascading Style Sheets that we have ever found.

The W3C on HTML
This is the definitive on-line reference for HTML and XHTML

The W3C on Style Sheets
The W3C (or World Wide Web Consortium) has published guidelines for working with HTML Style Sheets which are available on their web site. You may wish to peruse this site even if you are not interested in style sheets as it contains a great deal of useful information.

WebMonkey by Wired Digital
An excellent and comprehensive resource for all things Web-development related.

Web Style Guide by Yale University CAIM
A classic reference which has been maintained and improved with time. Still one of the most useful guides available.
